So I got the popcorn and the movie and sat down to watch Cry, the beloved country. I chose this movie because I live in South Africa, so I would most likely have an interesting take on the movie. I actually enjoyed the movie, (and the popcorn), even though it's such a bittersweet movie. The twists and turns of Stephen's journey really gripped me as I watched. One tragedy turns to the other, and you can instantly tell who is good or bad, or shifty. The movie tells a powerful tale, and is highly recommended to be watched one rainy evening, with popcorn. There are some links below to various reviews and summaries of the movie. Another really cool fact was that it was actually shot here in South Africa. (Although here is relative as I live in Cape Town not Johannesburg.)
